Long cool shadows of February. As the stream ran lazily between the willow banks, the long cool shadows of the trees were warmed by the fingers of the late February sun. Winter scene with ground snow, stream meanders through a willow grove.

Where the water lilies grow is a painting of local wetlands. Reeds, bog shrub and waterlilies in dark waters. Sometimes you can see wondrous glimpses of wetlands. A quick splash and what was there is gone. Back to the safety of the darkened waters. It is beautiful in what looks like lonely existence, but yet full of life under its fauna cloak.

Inline for pick up. The gold of the field, with its bales of fodder had been gathered for the tractor to retrieve. The sun was lighting the fog as it dissipated.

The bright and sassy Lantana flower in its pretty pink and yellow cloak spreading joy in the bright morning sun.

A friend sold their family farm to some shepherds. They take the ewes over to the Island to lamb and graze for the summer. We arrived just as the Commuters were returning from their summer abroad. The painting portrays a large number of the wooly creatures happily stuffed into a barge and sailing home for the winter.

The white Siberian iris, so majestic in its numbers. If they would just bloom all at the same time, not lollygag around in various stages from bud to full bloom to withering past its full brilliance. Proving once again that all stages of life are beautiful.

Between Tiviotdale and Orangeville Highway 9 is a long stretch of road where the fields are behind the tree line. Its pretty, waking up with a touch of ground fog and the sun coming up. Morning sky with autumn palette for flora. A glimpse of the view as you speed along ticking the kilometres.

Ahhhh the iconic work horse. This particular painting won Second in an Online Juried Show in 2016. I think I am finally willing to part with it.

My Sagle Tree depicts a tree at the top of a hill with a gravel road that has long afternoon shadows on it.

So this is a little, well, odd. Heather and I used to walk Mary Rutherford's road a lot. And sometimes I would take my camera. A while back I'm just going through various pictures and I come across this photo I had taken. For those who are not from the area let me fill you in a bit on Mary Rutherford. She was a resident of our area back in the mid 1800's. But on this back road, unmaintained (which makes it great to walk), there is a small disheveled cemetery. There are about 7 or 8 tombstones at the bottom of the hill beside the path, but Mary's is up the hill farther, away from the others. And in the woods. There are several tales about her. One, she was to be married, the suitor did not show for the wedding and she was distraught and hung herself. But the other is said that she was a witch, so her head was buried in one spot and the rest of her body in another.
Frankly, I have always thought she was just a normal person, with a normal life, but it is kind of spooky and when finding the gravestones one of us didn't feel comfortable going up into the woods. I can't remember whether it was Heather or me, probably me, lol.
Back to my story- I am looking through pics to paint and I come across this one and it looks like this. But when I got looking at it closer thinking about angles and composition there was something on the road. So I blew it up-at the top of the hill in the distance is a woman. But she disappeared.

The painting portrays a country back road, that disappears off in the horizon with a small figure in the distance dressed in clothing from a bygone era. The autumn foliage is beginning to overcome the road a bit but rather than invading the mood is inviting and warm. Lots of greens on the trees and the sun peeking through enlightening the path.

Brandy's Lane in Winter captures a crisp sunny day in February. No wind, just the call of the birds. We travel down the road between the rows of trees through the long blue shadows the late day sun casts.

When I was young we lived in Brant township on a hobby farm. I had a quarter horse named Lucky, and Lucky begat Copper John. So named after my grandfather who was first to find he had been born. Copper had boundless energy, a whirlwind. The image is very impressionistic primarily bold orange with some elements of raw yellow. It oozes spirit and motion.
This painting was in Art Ascent Magazine in 2017 receiving a Distinguished Artist Award for the call Orange.

Lake Ontario shoreline near the Sandbanks Provincial Park. The beautiful rock shoreline exposing aggregates of many colours. When wet they were simply dazzling in the bright sun.

Bayfield ON has reportedly the most beautiful sunsets in the world. So it is not surprising that the docks are full as soon as Spring thaw. This painting depicts a busy time at the docks when the boaters were decorating for the Christmas Boat Parade in July. A young couple are setting up Christmas lights amongst a bevy of moored boats.
This painting was the winner of Paint Ontario Scatcherd Family Award in 2016.

One of the most sensuous flowers on the planet. Here's a close up of a beautiful orchid with its smooth textured petals and sepals surrounding the column holding the precious pollen.

It has come to my attention lately that everyone experiences a vast array of emotions relatively similarly. One of these is grief.
The lake reflects the vastness of the sky, it is all the possibilities we possess. While the crystal clear waves reflect the deep green depth of water, the depth of our lives. A rock shore represents the challenges we all face. The waves, like days never seem to cease. Sometimes the waves are manageable, sometimes we can nearly drown.
I chose a pallet which was perhaps will be a little disconcerting to some, but it brings attention to the beauty of life even in sorrow. If there was not grief it will have meant we never loved.
The painting depicts the shore of Lake Ontario with its craggy rocks and deep green waters.

I hope to have captured the warm sultry day, the water lazily meandering through the shallows, and the reflections and shadows of the trees on the bank of the Saugeen. View from the bridge north end of Hanover ON, of the old railroad bridge and fish ladder to help our natural resources. Green and yellow trees and shrubs on the banks, blues and purples reflected in the water.

The Curve of her Wings, a solitary swan graces the canvas. This magnificent creature glided across the water with grace and elegance. As the wings began to unfold it created a beautiful reflection of light within the crowning feathers.
