Abundance

My painting done in recognition of the lives lost by the wee indigenous children in Canada and across North America. So many would run away from brutal conditions, beatings and starvation at the schools only to freeze to death, all alone. The painting depicts a sunny day with long shadows deep in the woods, snow on the ground and tree limbs. Here is “Whispers echo through the cedars, this way home” May they all Rest In Peace.

Whispers echo through the cedars this way home (Sold)

My husband Clare, mason since 1987, sole proprietor of Russell Masonry 1992-2020. Clare always treated everyone fairly, never tried to walk on others to get ahead, hard work got him where he is. Cannot imagine how many tonne of stone, brick and sills he installed through manual labour. I have always been so proud of him. But quoting was for him, by far the least enjoyable part of business. And it always had to be done after putting in 10 hours of manual labour that day. Here’s to you Clare, you made it through, I love you. Painting depicts a middle aged man sitting at the table with ledger in front of him. Dramatic evening lighting.

The Quote

As the sun came up the first heavy snow weighed on the grasses and trees like a beautiful cloak of pinks and violets. Photo reference taken down the 6th concession at the bridge by Heather's. This is the first in a series of paintings from this spot in different seasons.

Where the crayfish grow, acrylics This painting was one of a triptych done of the Saugeen River at a property between Hanover and Durham ON. The lady who commissioned the paintings spent many summer days sunbathing and playing on the property growing up. And then took her children there when she became an adult. This particular piece brought back memories of where they used to catch crayfish as children. 48" x 30" acrylics

Two red umbrellas and a beautiful fan palm. Walking through old Montreal, the facades are so inviting. Everyone has their patio umbrella sets out, plants everywhere. It has a real French genre to it. It's a quiet street. The facades are yellow brick, the outdoor staircases to the upper levels come right out to the street. The street is tree lined with a wide sidewalk for evening strolls.

Reflections is the name of this painting. My husband is a car buff. This painting depicts two of his classic cars, a '69 Dodge Dart and a '68 Camero. They sit side by side backed up to the bank of the Saugeen River in Chesley ON at the annual Chesley Kinsmen Car Show. And the reflection of each is depicted in the front fender of the other! "Reflections" was juried into the Society of Canadian Artists Open Online International juried exhibition- Mar-June 2021

Reflections

In 2017 I attended the Pow Wow at Saugeen First Nations. Depicted in this painting is one of the many fantastic dancers who participated. As he danced he held a tortoise shell shield and the other hand was shaking as if pulling the energy from the earth. It was fascinating. This painting won an honourable mention at the Federation of Canadian "Canvas Unbound" in Vancouver BC Artists juried show February 2018.

Pulling the Energy

Over by the Lighthouse depicts the docks at Kincardine ON beautiful Harbour and lighthouse. Hot summer day, harbour full of fantastic boats, cry of the gulls, steady lap of the water softly hitting the docks. Beautiful town on the shore of Lake Huron.

Now we stand for judging depicts a row of hunting hounds with their owners. The dogs stand on small benches with their masters behind them. After the hunt the young dogs are asked to stand, testing the ability of the owner to command an excited, wiggling animal as well as the patience of the young canines. And sometimes the weather is not cooperative, which adds to all the excitement.

I help Poppa it's called. The painting depicts our young grandson stands beside Poppa who is working on his race car. After painting this I realized it was the same day that our young grandson put a double A battery in the fuel line. Concluding the racing early that year.

Standing in the Surf painting depicts a rock formation that has been iconic to the area for thousands of years. The beauty of Flowerpot Island. Standing in the surf on the rocky shore you can hear the cry of the gull and feel the splash of the crystal clear water on your legs. It's a small taste of the gorgeous national park just off the coast of Tobermory ON. A beautiful tourist destination at the tip of the Bruce Peninsula.

If you are heading north just outside of Hanover ON, there's a spot if you look left where the electric lines seem to go on forever. As the sun made its appearance that morning the snow came alive with the sunrise, brilliant oranges and yellows against the dark shadow blues.

Cryin the Blues acrylics sold to the same collector-sold Cryin' the blues is a multi coloured blue hydrangea. Huge flower bursts of colour mainly in blues and purples but a bit of light pink as well.

Ahhhh the iconic work horse. So majestic in size and demeanor. This particular painting won Second in an Online Juried Show in 2016.
